The «We are Computer Science» association is happy to invite you to a screening of the fascinating documentary «Picture a Scientist».

«PICTURE A SCIENTIST chronicles the groundswell of researchers who are writing a new chapter for women scientists. Biologist Nancy Hopkins, chemist Raychelle Burks, and geologist Jane Willenbring lead viewers on a journey deep into their own experiences in the sciences, ranging from brutal harassment to years of subtle slights. Along the way, from cramped laboratories to spectacular field stations, we encounter scientific luminaries – including social scientists, neuroscientists, and psychologists – who provide new perspectives on how to make science itself more diverse, equitable, and open to all».

Since there is only a limited number of tickets available, we’ll hand them out to members of the «We are Computer Science» association with first priority followed by students and members of Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Basel and then all other applicants.

Wir sind sehr glücklich und stolz euch zu einem interessanten Vortrag, der virtuell auf Zoom stattfinden wird einzuladen. Unsere Rednerin ist Dr. Monica Landoni, Leiterin einer Forschungsgruppe an der Fakultät für Informatik der Università della Svizzera italiana, USI seit Januar 2007. Davor dozierte sie seit 1997 am Departement für Computer und Informations Wissenschaften der Universität Strathclyde. Sie hat einen Doktortitel in Information and Computing Sciences der Universität Strathclyde und ein Laureat in Informatik der Università degli Studi in Milano.

Ihre Forschungsgebiete liegen vor allem in der Interactive Information Retrieval und im Electronic Publishing, insbesondere im Gebiet Design und Evaluation von Kind-Computer Interaktion beim Lesen, Schreiben und Forschen. Sie ist sehr interessiert daran zu erforschen, wie Design für Gender Gleichgewicht, Zugänglichkeit und Inklusivität genutzt werden kann.
